The Consortium for Spatial Information (CSI) of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) , HarvestChoice and the Agricultural Geospatial Commons (AGCommons) Program jointly organize the Africa Agriculture Geospatial Week.
It started in 2008 as the Annual Meeting of the Consortium of Spatial Information of the CGIAR attended by the representatives of the CGIAR centers as well as key technology and development partners. The success of the event together with the growing recognition of the strategic potential of geo-referenced information and location-explicit analysis in intervention targeting, led the event to become in 2009 the first Africa Agriculture Geospatial Week, including also AGCommons, a geospatial program led by the CGIAR, and the first WhereCampAfrica.
The Africa Agriculture Geospatial Week is now becoming an annual event, an opportunity open to all interested in geospatial science and agriculture to share ideas and knowledge on Geospatial Information Services for agricultural development.
